Receiving inpatient treatment is an excellent first step towards improving your mental and overall health, as it can give you the skills and tools you need to manage mental illness symptoms and refrain from further substance abuse. However, we, at Crestwyn Behavioral Health, believe that you can benefit from additional support and services that can assist you in living the healthier life that you deserve. For this reason, we are pleased to offer you partial hospitalization programming and intensive outpatient programming as step-down levels of care that you can participate in after your time in inpatient treatment is complete.
Partial hospitalization programming, or PHP, and intensive outpatient programming, or IOP, are both less structured than inpatient treatment, yet they offer more services than what traditional outpatient services can provide. Furthermore, these levels of care can also be accessed without having completed inpatient care, as our staff can recommend one of these forms of treatment when it is determined that the services available in these levels of care will best meet your needs.
These outpatient treatment options uphold the same values and commitment to exceptional care that we implement in the other services we offer at Crestwyn. When partaking in PHP or IOP at our center, you can expect the following:
Monday through Friday from 8:00 am until 3:00 pm for 3 to 4 weeks, you will have a full schedule of therapeutic services that will challenge you to think beyond what you have known about substance abuse and mental illness and encourage you to develop new ways of thinking and living that can support a healthier lifestyle.
At the start of each day, you will enjoy a continental breakfast and meet with your assigned therapist to talk about your progress and how you are doing. You will also have the opportunity to meet with your therapist for 15 minute check-ins in between other therapeutic services throughout the day so that you have the individualized support you need. Lunch and several breaks are also factored into each day, which can serve as times to reflect and regroup before resuming services.
PHP at Crestwyn features 5 staff-led groups that can last for up to an hour each. Among the topics covered in these groups, the following are what you can expect to learn and talk about at this level of care:
- Recovery strategies
- Practical facts about mental disorders, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and depression
- Strategies and resources for responding to stigma
- Stress-vulnerability model and treatment strategies
- Building social supports
- Using medication effectively
- Drug and alcohol use
- Reducing relapses
- Coping with stress
- Relaxation techniques
- Coping with problems and persistent symptoms
- Getting your needs met by mental health and community systems
Lastly, you will also have the opportunity to receive medication management services with our onsite psychiatrist so that you can benefit from a medication regimen if your treatment needs require it.
From 9:00 am until noon on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, you will benefit from our staff’s expertise while partaking in the following treatment methods:
- Psychoeducational group that will provide you with invaluable information about mental health disorders and/or addiction
- Two process groups which are implemented to give you the safe space and support you need as you share your thoughts, feelings, and experiences with others while also learning from what other group members share about themselves
- Two check-ins with a therapist so that you are able to have the one-on-one time to work through your emotions, establish goals for the present and future, and process your progress with a trained professional
IOP at Crestwyn Behavioral Health lasts for 3 to 4 weeks like our PHP, though this level of care is less intensive in nature and can assist you in transitioning to traditional outpatient services so that you can continue on in your healing journey with success.
Once you complete PHP or IOP at our center, our staff devises a thorough discharge plan that will detail the necessary follow-up services that can help you continue progressing in your care. You will be very much included in the creation of your discharge plan, as we want you to feel comfortable with any and all recommendations provided to you.
